How To Ollie

by Skater

The first trick that you will learn – when learning how to skateboard will be the Ollie. This is the root of all tricks that involve the skateboard wheels leaving the ground. But beware, you should be able to have some sort of stability on a skateboard before you try and perform this trick, meaning you should be able to skate around without wobbling every and busting your ass.

The Ollie is certainly the most used skateboard tricks, and a lot of other tricks are based on this one. I will go over a couple of tips that should make this a nice and easy process for you to learn how to Ollie. You should be on your board with your back foot on the tail of the skate board. Your front foot should be in the middle of the skateboard, and you should have your knees slightly bent.

Do not roll fast while you’re learning to Ollie, you could even start practicing staying still, the choice is yours. You don’t want to bust ass before you learn the basics of all skateboard tricks. Now, here is a great skateboard trick tip when you’re learning how to Ollie. As you’re riding, the lower your knees bend, the more air you will get. In fact, your hands shouldn’t be too far from the ground. Also, as you get better at mastering the Ollie, the further you will be able to go also.

When you think you are ready to attempt the Ollie, you want to jump high into the air by slamming your back foot on the tail of the board. You should hit the board with your back foot as hard as you can, while jumoing in the air with the other foot, sliding up right before the nose of the skateboard.

Make sure that you stay in the center of your board to keep it balanced. Keep your knees bent so that you will absorb the landing better. When you come down and land your feet should be perfectly over the screws that are attaching the bolts to the skateboard trucks.
